Volunteer opportunities at the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo are plentiful and spiritually rewarding. We encourage you to lend a hand to sustain the good works of the masjid.
Here are a few ways that you can offer your time and talents to the benefit of the Center and the community:
- Greeter
- Welcome and guide visitors throughout the Center during special events such as Eid, Iftar Dinners, social gatherings, Jumu’ah, and Sunday programs
- Al-Nour Weekend School
- Volunteer to teach children Islamic and Qur’anic studies
- Sunday Kitchen
- Aid the group that prepares brunch for the community on Sundays
- Friday Bake Sale
- Help prepare food in our commercial kitchen for people to enjoy after Jumu’ah prayers
- ICGT Cafe
- Make coffee for our guests in the cafe
- Funeral committee
- Work as an usher, guiding visitors throughout the Center
- Set-up for funeral services
- Babysitting
- Volunteer to watch children during special events so parents can participate in programs
- Landscape Maintenance
- Take care of our beautiful grounds by maintaining the landscaping and mowing the grass
- Volunteer with the Islamic Food Bank of Toledo (IFBT)
- Join us at the Center on the second Saturday of each month for Mobile Food Bank visits, in which we cook and pack 200+ meals
- Pack meals for our neighbors in need throughout Toledo and Northwest Ohio
- Distribution follows afterward on-site in two downtown Toledo locations
- IFBT also hosts larger-scale packing events for food boxes with fresh meat to provide to area families during Ramadan and Eid-ul-Adha as well as weekend food bags to give to at-risk children in area schools
- Come to an ICGT Council meeting
- Meet the leadership and share your ideas
- The Council meets at 6 pm on the second Tuesday of every month
- Each meeting begins with public comment time
