In 1986, the Islamic Center initiated a program to invite scholars from different areas of human endeavor to deliver public lectures. Over the decades, the Center has hosted nearly 100 hundred well-known scholars, writers, and historians, including the preeminent Islamic philosopher Seyyed Hossein Nasr, historian John Esposito, actor and writer Zia Mohyeddin, and documentarian Michael Wolfe. Please stay tuned for the next visiting scholar!
Welcome from the ICGT Youth Group!
Teens ages 13-18 of member families of the Islamic Center are invited to join the ICGT Youth Group. Youth participate in all of the activities and programs of the Center, including the Al-Nour Weekend School, Stories from the Qur’an monthly halaqas, the Islamic Food Bank of Toledo’s volunteer opportunities, International Festival, picnics, and fundraising dinners.
In addition, the ICGT Youth Group meets two to three times per month year-round for social activities. Our past activities have included dinner and a movie, hanging out in the game room at the Center, picnics at the Khan Pavilion, and shooting hoops on the basketball court on the Center’s grounds. Cedar Point is also a crowd favorite! The Group typically goes to the rollercoaster/amusement park once or twice a season together.
In recent years, the ICGT Youth Group has organized two boys’ basketball teams that compete at a state-wide tournament between mosques in Cincinnati, Ohio. We hope to add a girls’ team in 2019. The entire family is invited to the join the fun and spend the night with us in Cincy.
Alhamdulillah, we are blessed with a fantastic group of youth and parents. Come and join us! All are welcome! For more information, please call the Islamic Center at 419-874-3509 or Cherrefe Kadri (youth group advisor) at 419-283-5315.
This is a monthly series held at the Islamic Center. It is a family halaqa style program for age groups 5 and above. The youth are divided into three age groups, ages 5-7, 8-12, and 13 and above. Community volunteers teach them about different topics from the Holy Qur’an and discuss other relevant religious topics. We have various youth directors to teach teenagers. Parents and other adults are welcomed with their own discussion with Imam.
The evening ends with pizza and socializing at the Center.
